Ray Wylie Hubbard

An intimate evening with Ray Wylie Hubbard up close and personal.  Don’t miss the chance to hear Ray in the backyard, under the Texas stars.

Ray Wylie Hubbard is truly a legend in Texas music and continues to define the term. He will be performing songs from his latest CD recorded live at Cibilo Creek Country Club in San Antonio, July 3, 1998, with Ray’s only published recording of Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother. Ray will have copies of the new CD for sale, autographed, of course. Dangerous Spirits, Ray’s previous CD, was rated one of the best CD’s of 1997 by the Houston Chronicle, and with no question, is a five star contribution.

Girls with Guitars will open

Many of you have heard the Girls perform around town and know how special they are. Whether in a small coffee house, The Mucky Duck, or even here at our house, GWG always delivers delightful harmonies of love, life, and hope making sure you remember to laugh a little along the way. Kelly Wallin and Ferryn Martin, GWG, will be performing songs from their debut CD, This is the Life, a must for every CD collection.

Concert review

Ray Wylie Hubbard
Girls with Guitars opened
With Special Guest Chris Buhalis

We’re trying to shake off the cobwebs from last night, but things are slowly coming back in focus. Thanks to all of you that made our first show a night to remember! Those of you that weren’t able to make it missed a terrific show. The weather tried to put a damper on things, but I guess we learned how flexible a house concert can be. I started feeling like a postal worker…neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night… Thanks for putting up with the inconvenience.

Ray was…well, what can I say…THE ONE & ONLY! Thanks for a wonderful show and for helping us kick this series off. Please come back again and again. We hope Judy & Lucas can make it next time…they were missed.

We really appreciated Ray bringing Chris Buhalis along. We love meeting new artists. I know that everyone here will agree, Chris was a great surprise and added something special to the night. We invited Chris back to do a TNHC show next time he makes it down to Texas, so watch our schedule…he’ll be back. Thanks for coming, Chris. (Just finished listening to the CD…GREAT!)

A very special thanks goes out to Kelly Wallin and Ferryn Martin for opening the show. Of all the times I’ve seen the Girls, I think last night was GWG at their best. Kelly & Ferryn are wonderful artists, but even better friends! Be sure to keep Feb. 6th open for the Girls with Guitars’ return to the TNHC stage.

And thanks to all of you that came & made the Wylie Lama so special. Ray agreed to come back, so this will be an annual event (at least). A small group of you really worked to help with the clean up, which was greatly appreciated. We also appreciated how you all pitched in to help cover, move, dry, and pack sound equipment in our time of need. And…the food…you did good, real good, people.

Thanks to ALL of you! We’re very pleased with the way things turned out and look forward to doing it many more times in the future. Y’all come back now, hear?

For the love of the song,
Barney & Beverly
